Jimi Hendrix - Both Sides Of the Sky — Jimi Hendrix – Both Sides Of the Sky

I have just put 14 newly-released classic rock tracks into high rotation in the playlist. Listen for songs from the following recently released albums:

Jim Hendrix – Both Sides Of the Sky … Although he died 47 years ago – the Jimi Hendrix legacy lives on. This album contains studio music from sessions started in 1968 but never released on album. Listen for the tracks Mannish Boy and Lover Man. Read the review here.

Randy Bachman – By George By Randy … This album is Randy Bachman‘s tribute to George Harrison. It contains songs written by the ex-Beatle – but done very differently from the originals. Listen for the tracks Between Two Mountains (a Bachman original describing how Harrison was stuck between the two musical mountains of John Lennon and Paul McCartney) and Taxman. Joan Baez – Whistle Down the Wind … From what will probably be Joan Baez‘s last album – listen for the track The Great Correction. Read the review here.

David Byrne – American Utopia … His first new solo album since 2004 – the former front man for Talking Heads takes an optimistic look at America. Listen for the tracks Every Day Is A Miracle and Everybody’s Coming To My House. Read the review here.

The Choir – Artifact: The Unreleased Album … Before there was The Raspberries – there was The Choir. This album celebrates the early incarnation of the band’s take on Power Pop which went on to so much success as The Raspberries. Listen for the track Anyway I Can. Read the review here.

Myles Goodwyn – Myles Goodwyn And Friends Of the Blues … Joined by David Wilcox, Rick Derringer, Frank Marino and a host of other blues players, the ex-April Wine frontman takes a long look at the blues. Listen for the tracks I Hate To See You Go (But I Love To Watch You Walk Away) and You Never Got The Best Of Me. Read the review here.

Judas Priest – Firepower … A little something for the metalheads from the brand new Judas Priest album. Listen for the track Rising From Ruins. Read the review here.

Myles Kennedy – Year Of the Tiger … Myles Kennedy was the go-to vocalist for two solo albums from Slash (of Guns n’ Roses). This is the celebrated vocalist and song writer’s first solo album. Listen for the title track Year Of the Tiger. Read the review here.

Matthews Southern Comfort – Like A Radio … Probably most famous for their cover of the Joni Mitchell song Woodstock (which was released in 1970), Matthews Southern Comfort is still making great music. Listen for the track Bits And Pieces. Read the review here.

John Mayall – Three For the Road … Recorded live in Germany last year, this album features only 3 players (John Mayall on vocals, harmonica and keyboards, Greg Rzab on bass, Jay Davenport on drums) but delivers a polished, laid back set of Mayall‘s favourite songs. Stream Is Back Up – But We Are No Longer Available via iTunes

After being moved to a different server by my music stream provider – the radio stream is back up – but we are no longer available via iTunes.

However, the address for the Choice Classic Rock stream had to be changed. This resulted in some of the third party web sites having the wrong streaming address – which no longer play anything. I am in the process of updating all the radio station directories on the internet with the new streaming address – but this is a long painstaking process.

Even worse – I contacted iTunes and informed them of the change in the music stream server address – but received an email saying that they were “no longer adding or modifying Internet stations” in the iTunes app. So if you are used to listening to us through iTunes on the Internet Radio preset that was there – it will no longer work. There is no money in it for iTunes I suppose – so they have stopped support for internet radio stations in the iTunes app.

My apologies to anyone who listened through iTunes (I know there were a lot of you) – but these circumstances are beyond my control. However, having said that – you can manually type the music stream address into iTunes and listen to the station by following these steps:

Start the iTunes app.
Go to the File menu and select Open stream.
Type (or copy and paste) the following: http://bb23.sonixcast.com:20012 into the URL field.
Click the OK button.

Station is Currently Down

The Choice Classic Rock station is currently down. My sincere apologies – but my station’s host moved us to a new server, and a host of issues have cropped up. We are diligently working on this issue and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.
