Eric Clapton’s Last Album?

Eric Clapton – I Still Do
Eric Clapton – I Still Do

Today, Eric Clapton released his latest project called I Still Do. In media interviews this week, he intimated that this may actually be his last project before retirement. I hope not! I have added 4 more tracks into high rotation from this release – and they all are tasty nuggets of classic rock and blues. You can check out the video for the latest single released from the album – which is called Spiral – by clicking here.

I also heard a nice ballad the other day from Don Henley‘s recently released album – Cass County – so have added the track Words Can Break Your Heart into high rotation. Enjoy!

The classic rock world has been rocked by the death of yet another great musician. Keith Emerson (of Emerson, Lake & Palmer and The Nice) died yesterday. Emerson was arguably the finest pianist on the planet at one time and helped forge the popularity of progressive rock in the early 1970s. His contributions to the world of progressive/classic rock were unprecedented, and it is with great sadness The Choice salutes his incredible musical legacy.

I have added some Emerson, Lake & Palmer tracks in to high rotation so we can all appreciate the progressive rock brilliance and artistry of this great musician. He was a true pathfinder and originator.

Remembering George Martin

George Martin
George Martin

I learned this morning that George Martin, the “fifth Beatle”, had passed away. His passing has left the classic rock world devoid of (yet another) master. In this case, a master producer – but also a man who guided the musical curiosity and experimentation of the Beatles into a cultural phenomenon that is still going strong some 50 years later. He was the perfect foil for the Beatles youthful energy, and the effects of this man’s work may well last forever.

Here is a nice article that quickly sums up the man’s impact on classic rock.

The following are just a few comments from the classic rock world on his passing:

“The world has lost a truly great man who left an indelible mark on my soul and the history of British music.”
– Paul McCartney –

“Always always positive, and deeply thoughtful and creative, the man was a gentle giant of popular music.”
– Brian May (of Queen) –

“I’m sad to hear about the death of George Martin. I’ve always felt he was much more than just the fifth Beatle…”
– Steve Hackett (of Genesis) –

“Thank you Sir George Martin: the greatest British record producer of all time. We will never stop living in the world you helped create.”
– Mark Ronson –

Here is a more in depth article on the life of George Martin and the response his passing has garnered from the world.
