I added 10 new songs into high rotation in the playlist this week. Eight of the songs are from the following newly released classic rock albums:

The Allman Brothers Band – Fillmore West ’71 … Just two months before their iconic At Fillmore East, the band were at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West for an epic weekend. This 4 CD set was compiled from reel-to-reel soundboard masters that have been stored away in a closet. The songs are the same, but there is great energy and great playing that lives up to the band’s legacy. Listen for the tracks Hoochie Coochie Man and Midnight Rider. Read the review here.
Ten Years After – Naturally Live … This album was recorded on March 24, 2018 in Germany during the tour that followed the release of their most recent studio album A Sting In The Tale. As well as original members Ric Lee and Chick Churchill, the band features bassist Colin Hodgkinson and guitarist/vocalist Marcus Bonfanti. Listen for a live version of their classic I’d Love To Change The World. Read the review here.
Chrissie Hynde – Valve Bone Woe … The Pretenders frontwoman decided to change up genres for her newest release. The cover album finds her diving into one of her earliest loves, Jazz. Her voice and song selection work well, going over the top at times to nail the tune with all the requisite pomp and circumstance but also experimenting in unique ways. Listen for the song No Return. Read the review here.
Iggy Pop – Free … The former Stooges 18th studio album finds him continuing down a path away from gnarly garage punk and into what I think is more interesting musical terrain. Listen for the track James Bond. Read the review here.
Status Quo – Backbone … This is the first album of new music the band has produced since the death of founding member Rick Parfitt in 2016, and it marks out a new era for a band that’s already had its share of eras. The album finds the band energized and optimistic with the addition of two new members – Richie Malone (rhythm guitar) and Leon Cave (drums). Listen for the title track Backbone and the song Liberty Lane. Read the review here.
Alice Cooper – The Breadcrumbs EP… This EP has only been released on 10” vinyl in rather limited number: only 20,000 copies available worldwide. It finds the master of shock-rock looking back at his roots in Detroit and paying homage with some cover versions. Listen for a cover of the little-known Bob Seger song East Side Story. Read the review here.
New Singles
The other 2 songs added into high rotation are from forthcoming albums. Tune in and listen for the following tracks:
Post Malone featuring Ozzy Osborne – Take What You Want … Taken from the Generation Z rabble-rouser’s album Hollywood Bleeding, listen for Ozzy Osborne … well … doing Ozzy, as only Ozzy can.
Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Milky Way … This single is taken from the prolific singer/songwriter/guitarist’s impending album Colorado, which is due for release on October 25th, 2019.
