Mark Knopfler – Down The Road Wherever … A new release from the former Dire Straits guitar player/frontman. A very nice record with catchy, well-played songs – what more could you ask for? The Beatles – The White Album 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition Box Set … The album is actually called The Beatles – but everyone knows it as The White Album. This magnificent box set includes the original album re-mixed over 2 CDs, a CD containing the 27 track “Esher Demos“, 3 CDs of mostly unreleased studio sessions and a Blue-Ray disc containing a 5.1 surround sound White Album remix and more. David Crosby – Here If You Listen … The 77 year old one-third of Crosby, Stills & Nash delivers a quiet masterpiece of acoustic perfection. Teaming up with the Lighthouse Band really pays dividends and the results are well-worth a listen. Listen for the tracks Glory and a beautiful reworking of the Joni Mitchell song Woodstock. Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody (Original Soundtrack) … The soundtrack for the movie is worth every penny. It includes not only some of the more well known Queen classics – but also live versions from their iconic performance at Live Aid (and more!). Listen for the tracks Don’t Stop Me Now (with a reworked Brian May guitar solo) and a live version of Now I’m Here (recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon). Read the review here.

Ace Frehley – Spaceman … The former Kiss guitar player returns with an album of hard rock. Listen for the track Without You I’m Nothing – which was co-written by and features Gene Simmons on bass. Read the review here.

Aldo Nova – Aldo Nova 2.0 … The Canadian guitarist and songwriter returns with a re-recording of six tracks from his original 1981 album (which featured the hit Fantasy), and one new song. Listen for the song Foolin’ Yourself 2.0Read the review here.

John Hiatt – The Eclipse Sessions … Recorded primarily as a trio with a bassist and drummer, Hiatt returns to the basics with this album that was recorded over a mere six days. Listen for the song Over The Hill (which he definitely isn’t!). Read the review here.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters – Look Now … His first album with The Imposters in 10 years finds the singer/songwriter in fine form. The album is varied and eclectic but all Elvis. Listen for the track Burnt Sugar Is So BitterRead the review here.

Dave Davies – Decade … One of the founding members of The Kinks (with his brother Ray Davies), has given us an album of songs he was working on nthe 1970s just prior to the release of his first solo album. These songs range from hard rock to pop and are fully fleshed out and would have worked on any Kinks album. Graham Parker – Cloud Symbols … Ably backed by The Goldtops (Martin Belmont, Geraint Watkins, Simon Edwards and Roy Dodds) and accompanied by The Rumour Brass on six tracks – Parker‘s 24th album finds him in fine form with an excellent batch of songs. Joe Strummer – Joe Strummer 001 … This album is a retrospective of everything Strummer did after his time helming The Clash. It features a range of styles and everything from duets with Johnny Cash and Jimmy Cliff to his work with The Mescaleros. Doyle Bramhall II – Shades … The latest album from the in-demand singer-songwriter guitarist covers a variety of different styles – yet maintains a honest cohesion.
