Boz Scaggs-Out of The Blues
Boz Scaggs-Out of The Blues

I have just added 6 new tracks into high rotation from the following newly released classic rock albums:

Boz Scaggs – Out Of the Blues … For over 10 years now Boz Scaggs has been releasing albums that are grittier and more blues-based than his most popular albums from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. This new album maintains that trend, taking the music back into the blues (contrary to what the album title says!) Listen for the tracks Little Miss Night and Day, I’ve Just Got to Forget You and Rock and Stick. Read the review here.

Elvin Bishop’s Big Fun Trio – Something Smells Funky ‘Round Here … Their previous debut album garnered a Grammy nomination and the band continues in a fun-filled bluesy direction. Listen for the hilarious take on those in power on the song Something Smells Funky ‘Round Here and the instrumental track Bob’s Boogie. Read the review here.

Bob Dylan – Live 1962 – 1966: Rare Performances from the Copyright Collections … This two-disc compilation of early concert recordings brings together material previously only available on the limited edition 50th Anniversary/Copyright Extension albums. Listen for the track Baby Let Me Follow You Down, which was recorded in May 1966 at the Capitol Theatre in Cardiff, UK. Read the review here.

New Blues Release From The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones - Blue & Lonesome
The Rolling Stones – Blue & Lonesome

The Rolling Stones have very recently released Blue & Lonesome – where they have gone into the studio and covered an album’s worth of Blues standards. It is a return to the Stones origins – but with a more matured sound. I have added a few songs from the album into high rotation. Listen for Commit A Crime, Hate To See You Go, I Can’t Quit You Baby, I Gotta Go, Just Like I Treat You and Ride ‘Em Down.

I also added a new track into high rotation from the latest album from Robbie Robertson (of The Band). The album is called Testimony and is a snapshot of his career with The Band, Ronnie Hawkins, Bob Dylan and solo. Listen for the title track to the album – Testimony.

Also new into high rotation is a track from the latest release from Queen. The album is called On Air and the track is a fast version of their song We Will Rock You, which was recorded October 28th, 1977 for the BBC. I think you will agree it is a very interesting early interpretation of the song!

And lastly – I just want to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season. To celebrate – I have added some classic rock artists doing select Christmas songs into the rotation. Enjoy the season!
